BAHAMAS: ELEUTHERA Jahzara Taylor, a student at Central Eleuthera High School, has received the Diana Award, the highest honor a young person can win for civic engagement or humanitarian work.
In order to aid children aged seven to 16 in learning to read, Taylor established "Jahzara Cares" in 2018. Taylor organized a fundraiser to pay for the ingredients for nutritious meals that were given to the families of the children she was supporting as well as elderly members of the neighborhood after realizing that students were showing up to reading lessons hungry.
Taylor has organized several book drives and tutors kids for free for up to four hours each week through the Teacher Cadet Program. She has discovered that you are "never too young to make a difference" by volunteering your time to help others.
Her Young people have been able to continue their education despite many challenges thanks to her compassion and dedication.
Taylor is a shining example in her neighborhood. She excels not only academically but also as a leader in the classroom and a true humanitarian. She is a leader in the Rotary Club, Maritime Cadets, Ministry of Education Teacher Cadet Program, Junior Achievement, Power, Passion, Pursuit Girls Empowerment, Interact Club, and GEMS Empowerment Group. She also serves as president of the Central Eleuthera High School Student Christian Movement and the Ranger Guides. Furthermore, she is an active member of the Revival Baptist Church. She is still able to participate in her school's academic honor society despite everything.
Jason and Dawn Taylor, Taylor's parents, expressed their pride in their daughters hard work and commitment. Who could have thought it up? God did. Our daughter will receive a Diana Award from the tiny country of The Bahamas, which has a population of 389,482; from the unassuming town of Palmetto Point on the small island of Eleuthera. All praise and thanksgiving go to God, who will make you the head and not the tail. We cherish you.
